Our policies

What to know before you book, in plain words.

Booking and deposits

Book on the booking page or call the studio. Slow facials take a deposit that holds your time and goes toward your visit. Jacquelyn or Jeanne confirms by phone, text or email, whichever you prefer.

Canceling and running late

Please tell us 24 hours ahead if you need to cancel or move a visit, and your deposit goes to the new time. If you arrive late, the visit may be shortened so the next person's time stays theirs.

If you miss an appointment

If a visit is missed without notice, the deposit stays with the studio and the next booking asks for one again. If something comes up, call as soon as you know and we'll find another time.

Children and companions

Vellum sees adults, 18 and over. A friend or a daughter who drives you is welcome to wait on the bench in the hall, and we'll bring her a cup of tea.

Patch tests and allergies

Before a new product goes near your face, we try it on a small spot behind your ear and wait. We'll read out every ingredient we use, and the list is printed in large type if you'd like it.

Redos and refunds

If something about your visit wasn't right, tell us within a week and we'll look at it together. Skin takes a few days to settle after a facial, so we ask you to give it that time first.

Tipping

Tips are welcome and never expected. You can add one when you pay, by card or in cash.

Before your visit

Come as you are, and arrive 10 minutes early for a first visit so there's time for tea. Skip a strong scrub the day before, and bring your reading glasses if you'd like to read your note before you leave.

When to ask your doctor first

If you are pregnant, take a prescription medicine for your skin or have a skin condition a doctor is managing, ask your doctor before you book a facial with LED light or microcurrent. If what we see is a doctor's job, we'll say so plainly.
