The slow facial

A facial for skin that has had some years

A slow facial is 75 or 90 minutes with a licensed esthetician, unhurried from the first minute to the last. It's for anyone over fifty who would rather be taken care of than be rushed.

Choose 75 minutes for a full facial at an easy pace, or 90 for a longer massage and a longer rest.

What happens

Six steps, with room between them

Times are for the 75-minute visit. At 90 minutes, the massage and the rest each get a little longer.

  1. 01
    10 min

    Step 1: Settle in

Tea or water, a seat and a talk about how your skin has felt lately and what you'd like left alone.

  2. 02
    10 min

    Step 2: A warm cleanse

Warm towels and gentle cleansing, with each step named before it starts.

  3. 03
    5 min

    Step 3: A little steam

A few minutes of soft steam while you settle, with a towel over your eyes if you like.

  4. 04
    20 min

    Step 4: A slow massage

Face, neck and shoulders at the pace you choose. Tell us to go lighter or slower at any point.

  5. 05
    20 min

    Step 5: Mask and rest

A mask while you rest with the lights low, and no talking unless you'd like some.

  6. 06
    10 min

    Step 6: Sit up slowly

A finishing moisturizer, a cup of tea and your note, printed in large type.

Good to know

Before you book

  • Consultation first, if you'd like it

A first visit starts with ten minutes of talking. Or book the 20-minute consultation on its own and decide afterward.

  • Ask your doctor first

If you are pregnant, take a prescription medicine for your skin or have a skin condition a doctor is managing, ask your doctor before adding LED light or microcurrent.

  • Before

Come as you are and skip a strong scrub the day before. Your esthetician confirms anything else with you when you book.

  • After

Drink some water, go gently with new products for a day and wear sunscreen outdoors. Your skin may look pink for an hour or so.

Results vary. A slow facial is a visit for care and rest, and we don't promise an outcome.
